1/7/2024 0 Comments Metroid prime gameplay![]() Now, they are definately not Dark Souls hard, but they have moments that take crititcal thinking. It loves to make you explore and want to see what comes next!īosses are challenging the first time! As a kid, I was a bit of an idiot and had trouble with some of the bosses in this one. ![]() You pick up abilities through your journey on Tallon IV and end up returning to areas to only discover now you can open a specific door because of a new weapon or reach a new ledge because of a new jumping ability. Even though this title is a 3D one, it very much holds up as a Metroid title at it's core. Shooting Samus' arm cannon is still so much fun and satisfying to take enemies out with. Regardless, the gameplay is still solid as it was in 2002. But, it always takes a bit of time readusting to it after playing things that don't require such changes to just move the camera. Now, since I hadn't played a game like this before, I got used to it pretty quickly and have since then gotten used to its unique feel. Instead, you utilize the L and R buttons to Lock-On to enemies (L) and so make Samus stand still and free-aim (R). This stick changes you Beam type so there is no way to freely move the camera. However, in Metroid Prime (1 and 2) you cannot use the C-Stick to move the camera. In those games you can use a right thumbstick to freely move the camera as needed. I will admit that both Metroid Prime 1 and 2 have some dated control schemes if you compare them to other FPS titles like Halo or Call of Duty. Definately listen to it if you can! (Main Menu Theme is the best song, don't fight me on it. Pretty much every song in it makes my skin get goosebumps and I get that nostalgic feeling of my childhood. Now, while all three of those are great, Super Metroid specifically, Metroid Prime is the best in the series and the Prime Series as a whole is the best one out there.įirst off, the soundtrack in this title is bar none the B EST in any videogame I have ever played. I just remember seeing Samus, the main character, on the cover and thought HE looked cool! (I thought Samus was a guy before, this game taught me otherwise!) This was the very first Metroid game I had ever played, never knowing about the original NES game, the sequel on GameBoy, nor the fan-proclaimed BEST, in the series, Super Metroid. Back then in 2002, I had no idea what this game even WAS. Metroid Prime was a game from my childhood that captivated me the moment the Titile Screen Theme began to play and the feeling of some mysterious space adventures hit my brain. As a bonus, Metroid Prime supports the GameCube - Game Boy Advance Cable for connection with Metroid Fusion, allowing players to activate secrets intended to enhance both titles. Each environment offers effects such as billowing gasses, electrical interference, sparks, explosions, and real-time weather designed to make the planet come alive with activity. The technology offered by the GameCube allowed developer Retro Studios to create a world with detail not present in earlier versions of the series. Samus can also use her morph ball ability, which automatically switches the perspective behind the hero as she rolls along hallways and tunnels to escape danger or to break through barriers. Once activated, the thermal display can be used to isolate weak points on an enemy or detect them hiding under the cover of darkness. Samus' visor can also be upgraded in the same manner as her weapons, and players will need to effectively use the visor's thermal, combat, X-ray, and scanning abilities in order to advance through the game. Gameplay still emphasizes exploration over non-stop action, but there are still confrontations with boss characters spanning multiple screens in height and puzzles to solve using the right combination of equipment. Samus can outfit her space suit with new weapon upgrades found along the journey, including old favorites such as the Wave Beam and Freeze Beam, allowing her to more effectively battle creatures as well as uncover new areas. While the perspective has changed from 2D to 3D, Metroid Prime still features many of the same elements found in the previous three games on the NES and Super NES. The evil Space Pirates are up to their old tricks again, this time on a remote planet called Tallon IV, so Samus must embark on another adventure through uncharted territory. Samus Aran makes her GameCube debut in a title that finds the sci-fi series evolving from a side-scrolling game to a first-person shooter.
